- Carreto Ramado
Every year in June, a cart is decorated, the ‘carreto ramado’, to honour Saint Eloi, protector of ploughing and draught animals. This famous tradition is celebrated in many villages, such as Maussane-les-Alpilles.
Around forty draught horses, richly harnessed in the Sarrazine style and decorated with flowers and ribbons in countless colours, pull this cart adorned with plants.
The troupe parades through the streets of the village, where it makes several passes at different speeds to the cheers of the crowd, paying homage to the agricultural harvests.
