The Roman presence in the Maussane area is evidenced by the route of the Via Aurelia, which linked Arles to Aix-en-Provence (built by Emperor Augustus from 13 BC onwards).
A replica of a milestone found in Maussane is on display in the park at the Espace Agora Alpilles.
