Abrivado

‘Abrivado’ is a Provençal word that once referred to the practice of driving bulls from the pastures to the arenas under the supervision of gardians. Nowadays, the term refers to a Provençal bull-fighting tradition that involves simulating these bull drives by releasing the bulls into the closed-off streets of a town or village. The bulls, flanked by the gardians, move back and forth from one end to the other of a route secured by barriers, whilst intrepid young people try to disrupt the procession.
